Song recommendation of the day

Matthew West - Family Tree

Image
Matthew west is an American contemporary Christian musician, singer-songwriter, and actor. He has been active since 1997 and has released five studio albums.  Today’s song recommendation is his song “Family tree” from 2010.  It’s a song about breaking cycles and putting the past behind you and not letting it define you.  It’s a song that really resonates with me and probably a lot of people. We are often burdened by our family wherever it’s intentional or not. And I think that life is stressful enough without struggling with that burden on our shoulders. We’ll make mistakes but those mistakes won’t define us, this is what life should be like, finding our own path instead of being pushed onto one.  I don’t know what I want to do with my life, I don’t know what my path is but I’m always being pressured from left and right to hurry up and find it. It’s extremely stressing and anxiety inducing  I don’t know why there’s this concept that we need to hurry up and find our m

Kodaline - Brother

Image
Kodaline is an Irish rock band and consists of Steve Garrigan, Mark Prendergast, Vincent May and Jason Boland. They are formerly known as 21 Demands and have been active since 2005 before they changed their name in 2011.  They have released three studio albums and t oday's song recommendation of the day is their song "Brother" from their third studio album, 'Politics of Living'. The song is an emotional banger about brotherhood - not necessarily blood related - that tells the story of two boys and their close relationship through the years. It's a song about an unbreakable bond and the trust between the two parties who's always there for each other.  I really love the song - the melody, vocals and especially the lyrics makes me very emotional. It's a song that makes you pause and really focus on the lyrics and makes you almost envious of the relationship between the two. The following lyrics are especially heart-wrenching in my opi

Eminem - Mockingbird

Image
Eminem aka Marshall Mathers aka Slim Shady is as we all know an American rapper (amongst other things). He's a living icon who is known for his lyrical skills and his fast as heck rap *cough* Rap god and Godzilla *cough*. He's been in the game since the late 80's and still ain't stopping, giving us hits after hits. He has proven many times that he is up there with the best rappers of this world. Today's song recommendation is a fifteen-year-old blast from the past; Mockingbird, a phenomenal song from 2005, and isn't it weird to think that it's already been 15 years?! Mockingbird is from his fifth studio album, Encore and received a Grammy nomination for 'Best Rap Solo Performance'. The song adresses his relationship with his daughters, wife and the life they used to live. I'm a huge Eminem fan and Mockingbird is my all time favorite song, I just really love how real it all is. Through the song Eminem aknowledges that growing

ONE OK ROCK - Stand Out Fit In

Image
T oday’s song recommendation is another song from ONE OK ROCK and it’s their song; Stand Out Fit In from their album ‘Eye of the storm’ from 2019.  If you haven’t read my last recommendation with ONE OK ROCK here’s a link.  ONE OK ROCK - We Are  (Also if you wanna know more facts about the band) The reason why I chose this song is cause I’ve been listening to it on repeat these few days and even when I’m not listening to it, the song keeps playing in my head.  The lyrics are phenomenal and is about criticizing society’s double standards.  Taka - who’s the main singer - reaches high notes higher than what my grades have ever been, so please give him the attention and praise that he deserves! He’s an amazing singer and is able to communicate the emotions of the song really well and the live version of this song is just incredible and to die for.  I almost don’t have anymore adjectives to use but it’s for a reason. This song - actually this band - de

Sleeping At Last - Saturn

Image
Sleeping at Last is a musical project led by Ryan O'Neal who is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. The project initially began as three-piece band with Ryan as the lead singer and guitarist, his brother Chad as the drummer, and Dan Perdue as the bassist. In the following years after the release of their first four albums, both Chad and Dan left the band to pursue other interests. Ryan O'Neal chose to keep the name of the band for his solo works from that point on. A lot of the works from Sleeping at Last are mostly focused on the instrumentals - which I personally think makes the songs more emotional.  This can also be seen in today's song recommendation: Saturn - from the Atlas: Space II album. The album continues on Sleeping at Last's theme of space, and includes the last five planets in the Milky Way Galaxy. This is personally my favorite song - and also the first one I heard - from Sleeping at Last. The song is 4 minutes and 50 seconds l
